:: SMYK - CEDET, Warsaw

Unusually complicated but equally prestigious development realized together with another façade company - Aluprojekt. Complex of retail, services and office destination, consisting of two completely different buildings, bound together in a harmonious ensemble.
First building is a faithful reconstruction of historical CEDET façade from 1952, identical in external appearance, but incomparable in parameters, as required by modern building standards and made possible by use of modern technologies. To repeat the original modernistic character of the building it was necessary to create the individual, new system of aluminum profiles, very massive but at the same time very sculpturesque in detail. Adequate surface finishing in noble, silver anodizing is also a tribute to the old-fashioned architectural elegance, which lasts till today in the same faultless style. The reconstruction of the famous neon with arrow moves all inhabitants of Warsaw, and - to the older ones - recalls emotions from the period when CEDET was the symbol and the glorious meeting place of the city.
Second building, completely different in its indisputable modernity, features a dynamic, lively form and multi-surface façade, but bears clear references and makes a background to CEDET. Rhythmic set-offs, causing "fish scales" effect, show a fantastic perspective towards the historical building, lines of gray spandrels seem to extend the concrete slab strips, and diagonal cuts on the top floor remind the winged roof.
Altogether a very difficult project to realize, but the satisfaction to participate - great likewise.
