SPECTRUM
A spectacular office and partly residential building in the center of Brussels, located on an irregular, trapezoidal plot with one sharp corner, which undoubtedly inspired the designers to create an identifying dominant of the block – i.e. a structurally glazed beak overhanging the street – an element as difficult to design as and executive. The view from the corner rooms on the top floors is truly unique. The second characteristic feature of the building is the partially double glazing of the facade in selected areas, the so-called “double skin”, where the two vertical planes of the facades are connected to each other by horizontal service platforms at the level of each ceiling. Sharp bevels and a rather aggressive chessboard of the external glazing give the building a very specific, individual look. The use of iron-free glass with the highest transparency means that the building “adjusts” in terms of color to any lighting with rapid weather changes, so frequent in Brussels.
- 6,000 m2 of aluminum and glass structures
- 3,000 m2 of “second skin” façade with connecting piers
