Campus Pellenberg, Belgia
The facility at the University Hospital in Pellenberg (Belgium) is intended for a rehabilitation ward for the disabled. A soaring, simple block on a square plan for 11 floors, two of which (level 8/9) contain a gym over 8 m high with two opposite walls completely glazed, and the floor below is a swimming pool, also with a panoramic view of the surrounding nature. The building is located in a huge park, surrounded by greenery and organically connected with it through rich colors and an interesting combination of materials on the facade. Green glass and a reflective shadow box in spandrel stripes are a clear contrast to the rusty Corten linings, aluminum profiles in various shades of brown combine everything into a harmonious whole.
- 3.500 m2 of aluminum construction ? glass and cladding made of full and perforated Corten cassettes
- post and beam facades with pinned windows
- drawn mesh covers
- interesting glazing: panoramic panes with an area of over 12m2 per sheet, glass spandrels with crepe-type surface, on a highly reflective, polished shadow box
