Kompleks West Station, Warszawa

A complex of buildings including the new station of the Polish State Railways Warszawa Zachodnia and two office buildings, which currently house the headquarters of many companies belonging to PKP.
The railway station, which functions underground, has a dome in the form of two intersecting cylinders, cut diagonally at both ends. The grid of the steel supporting structure is covered with triple structural glazing made of trapezoidal sheets, with various computer prints. The tilted front wall is a structural façade containing automatic sliding doors and smoke exhaust windows. Inside the station, panoramic lifts were built with point-mounted glazing and specific dome lighting.
Two very similar 14-storey office buildings, one on the “L” plan and the other on the “C” plan, are characterized by a geometric combination of three types of facades: the first graphite one with large glass divisions and perforated ribs on the outer vertical masking panels, the second white smaller divisions of quarters with special masking panels housing LED lighting, and a third structural façade in niches. Retractions of the façade and terraces on 10 storeys as well as lighting lines separating different types of façades create an interesting impression of juxtaposing solids made of separate cuboids.
NOTE: all transparent façade glass panes have been made as double-chamber (adaptation to current energy-saving regulations), which completely changes the technology of façade assembly and the need to use specialized glass lifting equipment.
The accent complementing the entire complex is the monumental clock tower, made in the technology of laminated glass with a print, fixed pointwise on a steel substructure.
